FINANCIAL INFO

PRICES & ALL THINGS FINANCIAL

My Number One, Most Sacred of Rules...

"You can have it Good, Fast, or Cheap...
but you can't have all 3."

"Good" is always the one part of the equasion I won't budge on, so the other two elements (fast and cheap) are the variables. If you want it "cheaper"–it may take longer, if you want it "faster", then the price will be higher. If you want it REALLY fast, I'll call it a rush job and the price will increase a bit more, primarily because I will have to put other jobs and clients on hold until I get your job finished.

I'm Flexible

Any guidelines, rules, or policies I use are always open to negotiation. The bottom line is that I want to work for you. I want you happy, and myself happy as well. I want everyone to leave the table satisfied that they are getting a superior deal, and excited about beginning the project!

My Prices are Flexible

Yes my prices are flexible depending on what is asked. I do really love to stay within a client's budget and I really hate for someone to leave the drawing table unhappy or not being able to get what they need at a price they are happy with.

My Prices and Payment Schedule

My prices are based on the Graphic Artists Guild's prices, on the lower end of their scale. I don't price llustration work by the hour, but I do estimate how long something should take and price it with an hourly rate in mind. I can then compare that figure to the Guild's price to make sure that I'm in the acceptable ballpark for a specific type of illustration and it's scope of use.

Unless we make other arrangements first I'm going to ask for the following schedule of payment:

Books, Book Jackets/Covers,
or a group of 5 or more :

1/3 as a deposit,
1/3 at approval of roughs,
1/3 on completion.

Single illustrations, a small group,
or RUSH jobs:

1/2 of price as a deposit,
1/2 on completion.

Publishing Houses, Magazine
and News Editorial

On a case by case basis as per your established procedures.

Payment Methods

I accept Checks, Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Paypal and will consider Chickens.

A few items of note:

I rarely price illustration work on an hourly basis. I tend not to do work "On Spec." I rarely enter into a"work for hire" agreement. I rarely sell the original art or complete ownership. I'll almost always ask for advance payment. I do need a kill fee agreement. Again I'll say that everything is flexible and negotiable.
